Although it sounds like I am trying to give you a tongue twister (try to say it 3 times fast😊), walking through this equation may help eliminate the grey noise around what types of programs audiences want to experience. In-person this, virtual that, everything’s hybrid, is all irrelevant to you or your stakeholders until you are able to align the first half of the equation.

Purpose: While this may seem like a no brainer to some, really getting to the core of this can be a very nuanced and dynamic process. Often times there are a large number of stakeholders trying to align and capture program resources, and too often this is never fully established at the front end. Changing motives and goals after planning and implementation have started, create confusion and spin unnecessary cycles that distract your teams focus, energy, as well as their ability to really deliver on target. Having a clear understanding of this agreed purpose among the stakeholders is crucial before you can effectively begin.

People: The People part of the equation, means really taking the time to understand the culture of your organization, its stakeholders, and of course the community you have in your sphere, and want to continue to grow. Understanding how your community aligns with your purpose, is the next building block needed. If you have a good pulse on this, it makes it easier to effectively plan experiences that engage and attract.

Partners: Everyone needs good partners. In our personal lives. In our businesses. They are crucial to our growth and well being. In development of programs, this is especially important as few organizations have the in-house resources needed to answer, define, and execute so many of the details that come with putting on an event or communications opportunity. To truly leverage a good partner, you need to have them on board in the first half of the equation, in order to utilize their expertise, insights, and in turn, their partnerships effectively on your behalf.   Choose partners that fit your purpose and people culture, as they quickly become a part of your trusted team and part of your community.

I truly believe this equation is the key to successful programs that create rewarding experiences for everyone. So, to recap…Purpose + People + Partners = Prepared to Plan the Perfect Program

Here’s to safe and fun travels,

and great event experiences!
